If you are thinking about buying a home, then consideringthe rent to own option may be a priority. However, for this to work effectively you will want to also considerwhat types of maintenance and other options is a part of the home.  The option of buying after a certain periodof time may change the alternatives that are available when you move into ahome. 

The general expectation with a rent to own option isthat there should be general appliances available in the home.  These should be fully functional and it isthe right of either the buyer or the individual renting to have a check on theappliances.  If there is something whichis not included and you think it should be, then you can ask for it to beincluded or can consider a personal purchase later.  These alternatives will then provide you withthe best way to remain comfortable when you rent your home. 

The next concept to consider with the rent to ownhome is the maintenance which is included. There are many vendors and sellers who are interested in immediatelyallowing you to be in charge, meaning that you have the responsibility of landscaping,painting and other alternatives.  However,others may offer maintenance agreements until you buy the home, specificallybecause of the type of agreement and the stipulation that you may not buy thehome.  You can negotiate on this aspectif you want maintenance included.

The last thing to look for with a rent to own homeis the extras which are a part of the home. Full or partial furnishings may be included.  During your rental agreement, you may not beable to move these out.  However, if youdecide to buy the home then the furnishings either have to be moved or theybecome a part of your ownership.  You caneasily change this with the contract you sign or with a formal agreement withthe seller.
